Meet Charles R. Calabrese, DO

I became a physician in order to help people. With disorders of the digestive tract, people’s lives are changed in a very fundamental way. Pain. Discomfort. Irregular habits. And a wide variety of symptoms that range from unpleasant and embarrassing to disruptive and debilitating. These are people who truly need help…and an improved quality of life. This is my motivation as a physician, and it’s the commitment I make to everyone in my care.

Understanding is among the most important aspects of gastrointestinal care. It’s vital that I understand both the digestive system and modern GI medicine. I must understand each person in my care. I also let them know that I understand what they’re going through, what it feels like and how it affects their lives. And it’s essential that each person understand their own care, including their condition, their options, their treatment and their role. I emphasize communication and make myself available to patients, because I know from experience that they do better when they understand their illness and have the support they deserve.
